For a quick weekend getaway, we ended up in the beautiful streets of Montreal. Luckily, the sunniest weathers greeted us allowing us to walk/bike around countless neighbourhoods!
We were hungry hungry hippos by dinner time (even after all the Fairmount bagels) so we stopped by a friend’s recommendation, Garde Manger. It’s a spot tucked inside Old Montreal led by chef Chuck Hughes. Yes, that ultra cool chef with a lobster and lemon meringue pie tattoo.
A smoked meat sandwich is only just another smoked meat sandwich until you’ve tried it at Schwartz’s. The quintessential smoked meat sandwich at Schwartz is the iconic symbol of Montreal gluttony (in a good way). The tender meat, which is packed with flavour, literally melts in your mouth. They also have great portion size control. Schwartz piles sumptuous portion of their smoked meat in between two tiny slices of bread. A side of cherry soda, hot peppers, and a plate of fries make this a complete meal of fat, salt, sugar, and heat. Your Montreal experience is not complete without going to Schwartz’s.
